1.Harshad Mehta Scam is the biggest scam of the stock market of India till date.

 The scam amount is estimated to be about 4,000 crores.(the present value being over 24,000 crores). This scam exposed various loopholes in the Indian Banking system.



2. He Came to Mumbai with only 40 Rs.

Harshad belongs to a very poor family in Raipur, Madhya Pradesh (Now Chhattisgarh). when he came to Mumbai in after his schooling for studies and to find work he only has 40 rupees in his pocket. and worked a number of odd jobs for the next eight years.



3.Banned by Securities and Exchange Board of India.

Many litigations still pending against him When he died  Thane prison due to a brief heart ailment in the year 2001. There were 28 cases registered against him. Market watchdog, Securities and Exchange Board of India, had banned him for life from stock market-related activities. Due to his scams.



4. He bribed India’s prime minister.

Mehta again raised a furor on 16 June 1993 when he made a public announcement that he had paid ₹1 Crore to the then Congress President and Prime Minister, Mr. P.V. Narasimha Rao, as a donation to the party, for getting him off the scandal case.



5.Paid highest income tax.

Despite the fact that he was one of the biggest scammers of India. In the year 1992 Harshad Mehta paid the highest income tax in India of rupee 24 cores. Even according to some people if he was alive and never caught he is even richer than Mukesh Ambani.
